Houma is the seat of Terrebonne Parish, deep in the bayou country of south Louisiana, where waterways and marsh reach toward the Gulf. Shrimping, seafood processing and shipbuilding are also important, and Cajun culture runs deep, from the French spoken in some homes to the boat blessings and festivals along the bayous.
