Scottsbluff and its neighbor Gering are the business center of the Nebraska Panhandle, a region of irrigated farmland along the North Platte River where sugar beets, dry beans, corn and cattle anchor the economy. Regional West Medical Center serves patients from a wide area of western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming and northern Colorado, and agriculture processors, equipment dealers and lenders all work out of the area.
