Things to do in Kohler

Kohler is a planned village built around the headquarters and factories of Kohler Co., the family-owned maker of plumbing fixtures, engines and furniture. The company also built one of the Midwest’s great resort destinations here: The American Club, a historic hotel in a former boarding house for immigrant workers, the Kohler Waters Spa and the Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits golf courses. Whistling Straits has hosted several PGA Championships and the Ryder Cup, and golfers from around the world come to play its dramatic links along Lake Michigan.

  1. 01

    Whistling Straits

Pete Dye designed this rugged links course along two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, with towering dunes, hundreds of bunkers and roaming sheep. Caddies are required on the Straits Course.

  2. 02

This showroom and museum displays decades of the company’s kitchen and bath designs, with a ceramic art wall, historic products and exhibits on the village.

  4. 04

    John Michael Kohler Arts Center

In downtown Sheboygan, this center is known for self-taught and artist-built environments, along with contemporary exhibitions and its famously artistic restrooms.

  5. 05

    Kohler-Andrae State Park

South of Sheboygan, this park preserves Lake Michigan beaches and sand dunes, with a cordwalk through the dunes and a nature center.
