Things to do in Crested Butte

Crested Butte is a former coal-mining town at the head of the Gunnison Valley whose brightly painted Victorian storefronts and laid-back culture have helped it remain one of Colorado’s least-developed ski towns. Crested Butte Mountain Resort sits a few miles up the road in the town of Mount Crested Butte and is known for steep, extreme terrain. In summer, the surrounding meadows are famous for wildflowers, and the area is considered one of the birthplaces of mountain biking.
