Things to do in Jackson

Jackson is the commercial and medical center of West Tennessee, set along Interstate 40 roughly halfway between Memphis and Nashville. West Tennessee Healthcare, anchored by a large regional hospital, is its biggest employer, and manufacturing, distribution and agriculture fill out the economy. Union University and Lane College give the city an academic base, and the area’s railroad heritage lives on in the story of Casey Jones, the legendary engineer who lived here before his famous final run in 1900.
